Six months jail for accused who didn't comply

A MAN, who failed to notify the police under the terms of the Sexual Offences Act, has been jailed for six months.

Brian Steele, 46, pleaded guilty at Wick Sheriff Court, yesterday, to failing to comply with the requirements of the Act of 2003.

Sheriff Andrew Berry said that compliance was "very, very important" and added that Steele of 1 Macleod Road Wick, had "failed to grasp the neccessity of doing so in, every respect".

The prison term was backdated to December 2.
