Default Jail warning for drugs man

Police make seizures at river bank and house court told

A FORMER soldier has admitted having been concerned in the supply of drugs.

Ross Stewart, 24, was found with ecstasy on the bank of Wick River and M-CAT at his home in Ashley Court Wick, on February 28, last year.

The town's sheriff court was told that the river bank seizure was contained in 13 small bags of the Class A drug and three triangular Class B pink pills were recovered from his home which police entered with a search warrant

Fiscal Ross Carvel added that there was clear evidence that Stewart was concerned in the supply of both types of drugs.

Solicitor George Mathers said that the quantities involved were "relatively small". Stewart had "gone off the rails" after leaving the army in which he saw service in Aftganistan, and returning to civilian life.

The accused had been a party animal, a scene where drug could be obtained, but now he given that up and was settled with a partner and was hoping to get a job.

Sheriff Andrew Berry called for a background report and warned Stewart that, given the nature of the charges, the sentence might "very well" be a custodial one.

Stewart will be sentenced on September 2.
