    FORSE HOUSE care home near Latheron is to close, after almost 30 years looking after adults with learning difficulties. Derek Macdonald, who owns and runs the home with his business partner June Macdonald, yesterday confirmed it has been put on the market and is expected to be sold in September.

    THURSO town centre was packed with tourists on Monday as Scrabster welcomed its third biggest cruise liner of the season. the Pacific Princess had 658 passengers and 343 crew when it berthed along the Queen Elizabeth deep water pier about 9am.

Bettyhill, Strathnaver and Altnaharra Community Council claims drivers exploring the North Coast 500 route for the first time, are causing problems, due to their inexperience of negotiating small country roads.

    THE 175th Caithness County Show was a success on Saturday despite some heavy showers of rain which turned parts of the Thurso East field to mud. But the public were not put off although some people left early.

    WICK ACADEMY lifted their first silverware of the new season when Sam Mackay netted his team's sixth spot-kick of the shootout, to claim the Ken Green Challenge Cup. But a disappointing low-key performance from the Scorries, who were forced to go to penalties by the islanders, will be of concern to manager Gordon Connelly with just 10 days before the start of the SHFL campaign.
