Driver denies carelessness caused death

A DATE has been set for the jury trial of a French woman accused of causing the death of a car passenger by driving carelessly.

France Lautier, 63, has pleaded not guilty and will stand trial at Wick Sheriff Court, on June 20.

The indictment alleges that she crossed the white hazard warning lines on the A9 at Ramscraigs, near Dunbeath

village, on June 20, last year into the path of a car driven by Alfred Williams from Thurso, causing a collision whereby his wife, Elizabeth, a front seat passenger, received injuries from which she died at the scene.

Lautier's address was listed as c/o Easterhill ,Gorebridge, Thrumster, near Wick.
