    A FAR north health lobby is calling for the reinstatement of Caesarean deliveries at Caithness General Hospital following the experience of a local woman who says she was pressurised into giving birth at Raigmore. Caithness Health Action Team say they know of other mums-to-be who were "almost bullied" into going to the Inverness hospital.

    GOLDEN girl Amanda Coghill became the "blooming" pride of Caithness when she picked up the top award at the biggest flower show in the world. For the first time, the freelance florist received a gold medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in the senior category.

    CAITHNESS councillors are furious with the Boundary Commission's decision to push on with its recommendations to split the county in two and do away the the landward Caithness ward. Willie Mackay is at a loss to understand why the BC has turned a deaf ear to the wave of protests sparked by the plans and to an alternative proposal local Highland councillors came up with.

    EVERY Thursday the pupils of Bower Primary School walk 1000m from their school to Bower Church and during one of the walks they noticed quite a lot of rubbish. As a result, the school's eco-committee members asked to do a litter tidy.

    A GROUP of volunteers have banded together in a bid to transform Lybster's rundown children's play park into a state-of-the-art facility. Lybster Community Improvement Fundraising Group has set a target to raise at least £76,500 to make the village a more attractive place to live for it youngsters.
