Drunken accused said he would murder police and stab their mothers

A THURSO man was jailed for four months for threatening behaviour towards the police and assaulting one of them.

Wick Sheriff Court was told today, it was almost Christmas Day, past, when police arrived at the town centre in response to a call.

They approached Richard Donn, 28, who was "intoxicated and aggressive".

Fiscal depute Fraser Matheson said the accused directed "drunken abuse" at the officers and was detained. On the way to the police station, Donn continued his tirade threatening to "murder the officers" and, on arrival, vowed to "stab their mothers in the eye as they walked down the street".

Donn also kicked out at Constable Ross Robertson and spat at him.

The accused of Flat 4, 2 Deer Road, Aberdeen, told the court that he had moved to the city to break his offending cycle.

He had come home to Thurso for Christmas and "one drink with friends at a house, led to another". They went outside at one point and that was the last he remembered.

Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood observed from a background report that Donn, who pleaded guilty, had continued offending after he moved.
