Accused came off worst needing several stitches

A WICK man needed seven stitches after headbutting a window in the town, causing £300 of damage.

John Begg, 26, admitted causing the damage at a house in Battery Road, Wick, on Christmas Day and a record.

Wick Sheriff Court heard yesterday, that Begg, of 7 Bexley Terrace, in the town, was drunk at the time and remembered nothing of the incident in which he sustained several cuts to his face and head.

Fiscal depute Karen Smith commented: " I think he came off worse than the window." She added that the council had billed the accused for the damage.

Sheriff Andrew Berry said it was likely that the accused would do himself some serious physical harm.at some point in the future. The sheriff expressed regret that Begg was not putting the many qualifications he held, to good use.

He was ordered to carry out 60 hours unpaid work, which will commence after he completes a current allocation, imposed for an earlier, unrelated offence.
