Driver admits being more than seven times the legal drinks limit

A CAITHNESS woman has admitted driving with more than seven times the legal drinks limit.

The breath-alcohol reading provided by Dawn Sutherland - 166mgs - is believed to be the highest recorded at Wick Sheriff Court. The legal limit is 22mgs.


Sutherland, a first offender of 4 Moray View , Terrace, Occumster, appeared from custody today.. She was said to have driven from Lybster on the A99, into Wick, on Friday afternoon.

The 43-year-old, was granted bail and will be sentenced on April 1 after Sheriff Andrew Berry considers a background report. She is meantime subject to an interim driving disqualification.
