    Default Knife attack

Accused inflicted inch-long wound on ex. court is told

A MAN inflicted a knife wound on his former partner's face during an argument Wick Sheriff Court heard today.
Douglas Wilkie, 30, admitted a charge of assault, on indictment, and will be sentenced, next month.
The court was told that the accused and Michelle Ross, 30, appeared to have remained friends after they split up and she found a new boyfriend.
Wilkie was at her home in Shebster Court, Thurso, on November 3, last year when an exchange of words led to an argument.
The accused "lost his temper", picked up a kitchen knife and struck Ms Ross in what fiscal David Barclay described as "a swiping, rather than a stabbing motion". Ms Ross, who sustained an inch-long cut on her left cheek which drew blood, informed the police.
The wound was treated in hospital and it was not thought to result in a permanent scar.
Wilkie, described as a prisoner at Inverness Prison, also admitted an extensive record.
He will be sentenced on March 3 after Sheriff Andrew Berry consider a background report. The accused was remanded in custody.
