Default Tongue in Sutherland may be joining the space industry

Not sure how I feel about the Highlands and Islands Enterprise trying to promote the Kyle of Tongue for launching rockets! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotlan...lands-35438350

Maybe they would be better spending the money on encouraging small business development in the far north! But all the Star Trek trekkies on Caithness.org may disagree ....

I couldn't disagree more, look at the attraction the Kennedy space centre is in the USA.
I would imagine that tourists would flock to Sutherland to see spaceship launches etc.

About 25 years ago, maybe more, there was a study done on the feasibility of using the Dounreay site as a potential location for a launch pad. I recall it was in the Groat but can't find a reference for it.
