Accused alleged to have injured man at Wick pub

A THURSO man is facing a serious charge of assault.

Kaj Martin Curlis pleaded not guilty, on indictment, at Wick Sheriff Court, today, and will stand trial in the New Year.

The 40-year-old, of 23 Dunbar Terrace, Thurso, is alleged to have punched George McPhee on the head, in the Camps Bar, Wick, causing him to fall to the floor to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

The incident is said to have occurred on December 6, 2013.

The case was continued, initially, to January 5 for a progress report on trial preparations.
