160 HOURS UNPAID WORK AND A 20 MONTHS BAN

A DRIVER, who was almost six times the legal drinks-driving limit, has escaped a jail sentence.
David Davies, 39, was banned for 20 months and ordered to carry out 160 hours unpaid work in the community after he pleaded guilty at Wick Sheriff Court,.
Davies, a self employed plasterer, was spotted behind the wheel of his van in Thurso Road Wick, on October 28 by an off-duty policeman who became suspicious and contacted his colleagues.
Tests revealed a breath-alcohol reading of 125 msgs -the new legal limit is 22 mgs. First offender Davies, of 4 Tunnel Terrace, Newbridge, Newport, pleaded guilty at Wick Sheriff Court yesterday.
He can reduce the driving ban by five months if he successfully completes the drinks-drivers rehabilitation course.
