Alleged to have failed to stop when requested by police, court told

A CAITHNESS driver has been accused of driving dangerously, speeding and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Ronald Gunn, 21, pleaded not guilty at Wick Sheriff Court yesterday and will stand trial on October 1.
The dangerous driving charge alleges that, on February 24 this year, he drove at 79mph in a 50mph limit,at Murkle, failed to stop when signalled to do so by pursuing police and drove onto a verge to pass a parked car.
Gunn, of Backlass, Bower, is also accused of having twice given officers a false name.

Accused of forcing bus to take evasive action

A KILTARLITY driver is alleged to have forced a bus to take evasive action to avoid a collision at a main route accident blackspot.
Samuel Whitelegge, 26, denied a charge of dangerous driving at the notorious Berriedale Braes on the A9 and will stand trial on October 1.
The charge alleges that on March 20 this year, he overtook in the face of an oncoming Stagecoach bus which had to brake sharply, to avoid a collision.
Whitelegge, of 5 Pine Road, Kiltarlity, was not present when his case was called at Wick Sheriff Court yesterday, but his absence was excused as he is currently working in Angola.
