Default Roadworks start today - Thurso

    Just a reminder -
    A9 THURSO

    From : 26th May 2015
    To : 9th June 2015
    £260,000 RESURFACING WORKS
    A9 THURSO
Works start Tuesday 26 May for 2 weeks
The A9, through Thurso, is being resurfaced later this month as part of Transport Scotland on-going trunk roads maintenance programme,
Works, to repair potholes and other defects, will begin on Tuesday 26 May and is expected to take two weeks to complete. The improvements will be carried out between 7am and 7pm on weekdays with no works taking place at the weekend.

A convoy traffic management system, with a speed restrictions of 10 mph, will be in place to keep the workforce and motorists safe for the duration of the works. It will also be necessary to close the A9 at Traill Street from 7am to 5pm over four working days, from Thursday 28 May to Tuesday 2 June. A local diversion route will be signed in advance.

Traffic management will be removed outwith working hours to keep disruption to a minimum, however road users are urged to drive carefully as they will be running on a temporary surface. Pedestrian access will be unaffected by the works.

Eddie Ross, Operating Company Representative for the North West Unit, said: “These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface and repair a number of cracks and potholes which will greatly improve driving conditions on the A9 through Thurso.
“We are making every effort to reduce disruption but we would advise people to leave some extra time for their journey and to plan their journey, where possible.”
