When large building contracts start, who is responsible for the damage done to the roads?
For the last few months heavy loads have been transported from Scrabster to Sutherland for the construction of the new sub station in Strathalladale and Strathy north wind farm.
Who pays for the widening of the road where necessary, the damaged bridges , potholes and road verges that are torn up ?
Is this factored into the costs of building these places and paid for by the developer or does the bill fall onto the community in the shape of The Highland Council?
I know there is at least one councillor of this forem so here's hoping for an answer.

Its often dealt with during the planning application/ a condition can be laid down as part of the planning decision please see a section I have taken from a wind farm application as you can see the wind farm developer is being asked to repair the roads after the work has been completed.

TEC Services (Roads) has no objections subject to road condition assessmentsbeing carried out on both the carriageway and structures on the A836 road prior toconstruction starting, prior to the start of and after abnormal road movements andat the completion of the works. Road condition surveys need to be carried outjointly with the Council with all costs being borne by the developer. Timing ofconstruction must be phased with other potential projects and programmes in thearea to ensure single contractor responsibility.

Perhaps there was or will be a load that needs the big turning area.

Have seen the turning area by The Weigh Inn in use by some of the loads going up west.

If Limekiln, Strathy South and Strathy Wood are consented that's 89 more turbines (267 blades plus tower sections etc.) going that way all larger than Strathy North's so expect they will need that turning circle. Wonder if the developers squabble over who does which damage to the roads?

I would think the roads would be made good when completion of the works are finished. If you note Causeymire roads near the wind farm site are dam site better then the rest of the roads through out the area.
