    Default Threat man jailed

Accused said he would burn policeman's house down

A THURSO man, who threatened to burn down the home of a police officer after he arrested him, was jailed for six months, yesterday..

Solicitor Gary Foulis told the Wick Sheriff Court, previously, that the accused, John Mackenzie apoligised for his "appalling" "unsavoury" and "totally inexuseable" behaviour which must have caused Constable David Souter, distress, at Wick police station, but stressed that there was never any intention to carry out the threats. The fact he had not had his injections for diabetis, that day, was a contributing factor to his conduct.
Sentencing Mackenzie, of 5 Lyness House, Mount Vernon, Thurso, Sheriff Andrew Berry, who saw a background report, commented on his extensive record and observed that he had only been out of prison for a short time before committing his latest offence. The sheriff added that given the nature of the charges, prison was the only appropriate sentence.
The jail term was backdated to April 20 when the accused who admitted threatening or abusive behaviour, was detained.

    Breached court order

Damien Campbell was jailed for four months after he admitted breaching a court restriction imposed under the Sexual Offences Prevention.
    Order.
Campbell, 29, of 2 Wellington Street, Wick, went to stay at an address in Inverness between March 13 and 16, without having sought permission from the authorities. The jail term was backdated to March 23 when the accused was remanded.
