PARENTS of a brave little Thurso boy are appealing for help to raise £80.000 to pay for treatment which could help him walk. Kayden Gordon was diagnosed with spastic diplegic cerebal palsy when he was 15 months old.

A FORMER Woolworths' employee in Wick yesterday said she and other ex-workers have been "treated like second class citizens" after their failure to get compensation from the company. Rhona Macleod, who worked at Woolies in Wick for 32 years, hit out at the knockback for those employed in the company's smaller stores. Workers in the Wick and Thurso stores missed out, when the business closed down more than six years ago.

AN award of £20,000 has been made to Castletown Heritage Society to help it with a Bronze Age project. The money, part of the £68,000 granted to six local groups by the Caithness and North Sutherland Fund in its latest awards, will be used for the archaeological initiative.

REIDS's of Caithness has been shortlisted for the competition to be named the best bakery in Scotland. Judges for the 2015 Scottish Baker of the Year, have revealed the nine finalists in the running for the accolade. Reid's which is based at Ormlie Industrial Estate in Thurso, will be asked to submit a business case for why its bakery should be the best in Scotland.

YOUNG flute and clarinet players are being called on to take part in a very special opportunity to pay with some of the world's finest wind instrument performers. The Reykjavik Wind Quintet are to visit Thurso on Wednesday to perform to the whole of Mount Pleasant Primary School and do after school workshops.

A CAITHNESS nurse who survived the earthquake in Nepal which killed 5500 people, yesterday described what happened as "an experience unlike any other". Steph Sinclair from Thurso was in Nepal for less than three weeks when the earthquake struck the country on Saturday and caused widespread devastation.
