Default Woman teetering on edge of prison sentence

Behaviour so bad sheriff could not bring himself to describe it

A SHERIFF described the account of a woman's behaviour towards social workers as "the worst I have ever read".
Sheriff Andrew Berry remanded Carol Cowie until Monday, pending sentence at Wick Sheriff Court.
Cowie, 46, admitted breaching a community service order imposed previously for disorderly conduct.
Her solicitor, Jo MacDonald agreed that the accused's latest misbehaviour was "awful" and added: "She is not proud of what she has done".
Cowie, made an impassioned plea for one last chance, from the dock, to Sheriff Berry not to send her to prison, saying she would change and would welcome any offer of help with her drink problem.
The sheriff said he would refrain from reading out the comments Cowie made to social workers because "they are so bad, it would embarrass me doing so."
He said he would like to consider matters over the weekend and warned the accused, who admitted failing to co-operate fully with the order for unpaid work in the community, that she was "on the edge of a prison sentence".
