I think there's a broch at Skirza, a couple of miles south of Duncansby, but haven't been there in years so don't know what it looks like now. Caithness.org has pages for history and archaeology that are worth a look. Good luck!
Hi Orger's, just a quick question. Are there any prehistoric sites near John O'Groats? When Dave and I went up there, we were enthralled with the view of the sea that I forgot to look LOL
Thanks in advance.

Hi Lola. Are you just interested in prehistoric sites or historic sites generally? A place that interests me is the Old Battery at the eastern end of Harrow harbour. There is some info. on the Orgs' history pages. The site is still well defined on the ground. It was built in the 1800's to house some cannon to protect the Pentland Firth from the Americans and the Dutch if I remember correctly.
You might find something in here -http://www.caithness.org/caithnessfieldclub/bulletins/
A great community project being led by Venture North and Strathnaver Museum with the help of NHC Online and other heritage groups and organisations is currently developing a mobile heritage app for Caithness and Sutherland to be launched early this year. The app will cover lots of great heritage sites from pre-history to more modern and also include natural heritage sites. For more information, or to make sure your favourite site is included, have a look at our project pages on Facebook, our Twitter feed or on the Strathnaver Museum website. Our project eNewsletter can be read here and includes some screenshots of how the app will look, there is also an option at the top left to subscribe to the eNewsletter so that you can keep up to date with progress on this voluntary project.

Thanks everyone, I've found some great and much needed info in the places suggested. I'll check out the Caithness & Sutherland heritage app, it sounds fantastic.
