Macdonald/Sinclair/Henderson/Oman/Ross/Bain of Thurso

Hello. I've hit the wall on this particular line of my family tree, and as they all were from Caithness, I thought I might see if anyone here can help. As I live in the United States I have no direct access to any of the records, but I have been able to speak with relatives in England and have made use of ScotlandsPeople and Ancestry.

Several have told me I should be fortunate to have gotten as far as I did, but nevertheless I thought perhaps one of you might know more, or recommend where I might go for more.

You can access records free at http://www.freecen.org.uk/ and from there connect to FREEREG which also gives you free access to the parish records of baptisms and marriages. In Olrig records began in 1699 so the christening of James Oman in 1732 is probably as far back as you can go. In Thurso record keeping began in 1647 but the early records are very faded and have been difficult to transcribe and therefore not complete.
