    Default Cases fr

Picture posts were a bit of a drag
A teenager was upset when she received unwelcome photos on her Facebook page from a man in drag.
The bizarre message was reported to the police and the sender, William Macleod, was subsequently charged.
Macleod, 45, admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner when he appeared at Wick Sheriff Court, yesterday. Sentence was deferred for a background report.
Sheriff Andrew Berry was told that there was no “sinister” sexual element involved in the offence on August 7.
Macleod was said to have consumed 10 tins of lager when he posted the two photos of himself wearing woman’s clothing and make-up.
The girl was puzzled and replied to the post, asking why he had sent it to her.
David Barclay, prosecuting, said: “Macleod answered, saying ‘Do you want to see more’ meaning more similar photos. The teenager was clearly distressed by the message from a stranger.”
Macleod, of 1 Thorfinn Place, Thurso, described himself as having been "a bit drunk” at the time and said Mr Barclay: “He told the police he was horrified when he discovered the girl was only 14 as he thought she looked 18 or 19 on her Facebook page. He regarded the matter as a social, fun and friendly thing, rather than anything sinister.”
Macleod will return to court for sentence on October 17 when Sheriff Berry will hear from his solicitor, Fiona Macdonald.

Tracy Miller, 33, is alleged to have committed the offence at Millbank, John O' Groats, on Friday.
Miller, of Rowena, in the village, appeared from custody and was granted conditional bail. She will stand trial on January 6.

    Knuckleduster possession alleged

A WICK man has denied having been in possession of a knuckleduster, in public.
David Stubbings, 44, of 6 Battery road, Wick, appeared from custody and was granted bail, pending his trial fixed for January 6.
The offence is said to have occurred in an alleyway at the rear of Battery Road, on Friday.
