    Default Bail breach charge dropped

New trial date set for stalking allegation against accused
A FORMER Highland League Club chairman, accused of breaching a court order banning him from getting in touch with a woman he is alleged to have stalked, has had the no-contact charge dropped.
Fiscal David Barclay informed Wick Sheriff Court, yesterday, that, "following certain inquiries" he had made, he was deserting the breach charge, meantime.
The stalking charge, which Stewart also denied, alleges that between August 1 and November 6, last year, he engaged in a course of conduct at her place of work and her home near Wick, which caused her fear and alarm, by following her, approaching her and contacting her by telephone and e-mail.
An additional charge which Stewart also pleads not guilty to, alleges he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by sending messages to Mrs Gray's father, Clair Harper, Wick Academy president, at his home in Wick.
The court allowed Stewart, 55, bail after he appeared in court on these charges, with the condition that he did not contact Mrs Gray. However, he was subsequently charged with breaching the order by trying to contact her on his mobile phone, which he denied.
Stewart, of 18 Lower Dunbar Street, Wick, is due to stand trial on April 17 on the stalking count. Academy secretary
Alan Farquhar has since taken on the dual role of interim chairman along with his duties as club secretary.
