Default Bridge argument leads to dock

Accused tried to persuade drunk partner to come home

A COUPLE had a tiff after settling down to a new life in Wick, from Bulgaria. Trouble was, they argued in public and one of them, Krasimir Ivanov was arrested.
He appeared at the local sheriff sheriff court, yesterday, following the incident on a town bridge. Ivanov, 25, appeared from custody and admitted threatening or abusive conduct, through an interpreter.
Sheriff Andrew Berry was told that his partner, Nicola Bremner, had been asked to leave a nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning and the accused went after her.
David Barclay, prosecuting, said that police on patrol, observed “a heated discussion” and "some physical contact" between the pair, on the bridge.
The senior fiscal depute added: “It appears that Ivanov’s girlfriend was drunk and he was trying to get her home in order to avoid further confrontation.”
Solicitor Fiona MacDonald said that the couple, who had known each other for seven years, had been in this country for only three months. Ivanov, of 8 Cairndhuna Terrace, Wick, was not yet eligible for benefits and was taking English lessons. The couple were meantime being helped by family members.
Sentence was deferred until August 8 to allow Invanov to demonstrate he can behave himself.
