A YOUNG Wick man is to stand trial on a charge of propositioning a 13-year-old girl with a view to indulging in sexual activity.
Adam Shephard, 22, pleaded not guilty when he appeared at Wick Sheriff Court, yesterday.
The charge alleges he made contact with the the girl, at least once, in an attempt to arrange a meeting with the intention of engaging in sexual activity, either involving her, or in the presence of the accused.
The offence is alleged to have occurred at two houses in Wick, on September 6, last year. Shephard will return to court for his trial, on June 12.
In a separate case, Thurso man John Gunn was fined £200 for breaching a bail order banning him from being in contact with a woman on New Year's Day. He pleaded guilty.
The court was told that community service had been considered as a possible sentence but 73-year-old Gunn, of Morven Place, Thurso, wasn't fit to do such work.
