MSPs say decision will be damaging to communities

Highlands and Islands Labour MSPs, David Stewart and Rhoda Grant, say they are deeply disappointed by the announcement from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service that the Inverness fire control is to close. The MSPs have been campaigning to save the north’s only fire control from closure.
Rhoda Grant said “This decision seems to fit with the SNP’s centralisation agenda which is only ever going to be damaging to north and north east communities. It is a disappointing message that is being sent out to the Highlands and Islands.”
David Stewart said “Having met with the staff involved, I am extremely disappointed by this decision. It is a real blow to the staff, their families and the wider community that emergency service jobs are being cut in this way.”
