    Default Texts alarmed woman

Accused alleged she had tattooed him court hears

A THURSO man, who persisted in texting a woman he believed responsible for putting a tattoo on him while he was asleep, has been jailed for 135 days.
Despite being told that she didn’t want anything more to do with him, John Begg sent Lianna Gunn a further three messages, Wick Sheriff Court was told today.
In them, Begg, 23, threatened to report her to the police, alleging she was responsible for a tattoo being put on his neck while he was asleep some months earlier. He also threatened to reveal “things about her lifestyle”.
Begg, of 1 Strathy House, Thurso, appeared from custody and admitted engaging in a course of conduct which caused 25-year-old Ms Gunn fear and alarm, between December 8 and 10, last year.
The court was told that they had exchanged text messages on a friendly basis while Begg had been serving a previous jail sentence and the messages had resumed after he was released. However, after receiving the additional texts, Ms Gunn, who lives in Wick, replied, saying she wanted nothing more to do with him.
Solicitor Ken Ferguson told the court that none of the texts had contained any physical threats. He added: “She was of course aware he had been in prison and in that context, the messages caused her to be afraid.”
