Wintering butterfly
We have one of those red and black butterflies in the house. I know they should be hibernating but this one is flying around in the evening when the temperature goes up. Is it going to wear itself out and die as there's no water / food, or will I just put it in the shed ?
I think the shed might be best ??

It sounds like a Red Admiral. Now that it has woken up I'm not sure it will go back to hibernation. If you leave a saucer of sugary water out somewhere - perhaps on top of a bookcase - it will be able to feed/drink but I'm not sure you will be able to keep it going till spring. You could put it in your shed if it's frost free with the sugary water and it might survive.
