    Default MacGregor mercantile shop

    Hi all,

First time posting. My great-grandfather Alexander Mallis MacGregor, I was told owned MacGregor mercantile shop. My family told me it’s still in the MacGregor family. I’m looking for any info on my great-grandfather and the shop. Also, if anyone may know how to research his ancestors in Thurso Caithness, Scotland. Can anyone please explain Caithness to me? Any other info is greatly appreciated! I live in Denver, Colorado. Thank you Mike

What are the dates for your Alexander? In the 1851 census there was this family of McGregors: - Father Peter, aged 59, born Forgandenny, Perthshire; wife Agnes, aged 52, born Linlithgow, West Lothian; children - Agnes, 15; Alexander, 11; Archibald, 8; David, 14; Jane, 10; Peter, 15, all born in Thurso.
