Default State control of the Internet.

So the thin end of the wedge has brought out and about to be hammered in.
Our glorious leader has proposed state control of the interweb, good thing or bad?

Do we need protecting from ourselves? Do we need nannying in every part of our lives?
Could we soon see the .Org removed from our screens for being subversive?

And to throw in an Indy tangent from the start, what if the state removes all Pro Independence websites as they are deemed to be harmful to the state and the populace / brothers!

Don't sign the petition, sign the declaration saying; 'Yes please, I would like my household to continue to receive porn'.

Is there a turn it off petition? I'd sign that. I think the internet has done all the good it is ever going to do. Now it is just annoying.

That's a good idea - because it's true that secession would be harmful to the state and the populace!

Where do I sign up for this restriction?

Apparently, it has been suggested that one's specific kinks and fetishes need to be listed rather than a blanket 'yes to all', to further protect us from ourselves obviously.

I dont agree with this. I have always used filters which block unsuitable web content for the kids. I also made quite sure they didnt have internet access in their bedrooms until they were older.... Like 16/17. Internet was only for family spaces. I also had frank and open discussions about pornography with the kids. It is MY responsibility as a parent to police what my children are doing online. I read their text messages, emails, facebook pages and messages both overtly and covertly. My house will not be accepting any sort of filter imposed upon us by the government. I abbhor porn to be honest, especially the casual porn that we seem to have allowed to become mainstream stuff but I abhorr government interference in what should be private business.

A couple of other points .... The filters proposed even prevented people reading articles about this subject in papers like the Guardian and the Telegraph. And as for pro independence stuff being blocked... Well there is an organisation which has done some research which suggests that Better Together pages are censoring more than 50% of the comments on their pages where those comments ask questions which challenge a post that BT have made. They are however doing thus in such a way so that the censored comment is still visible to the poster but not to anyone else. Im not particularly offended by this, I have been banned from more NO pages than I can count, but several undecided friends have been very disappointed by this.
