Van driver denies causing death of cyclist
A middle-aged Wick man has been accused of causing the death of a motor-cyclist by careless driving.
Anthony Palmer, of 11 Malcolm Street, Wick, pleaded not guilty at the town's sheriff court, today.
The indictment alleges that the 57-year-old failed to keep a proper lookout and turned the van he was driving into the path of the motor cyclist, Brent Larnach, resulting in a collision following which he died.
The accident occurred on the A99 at Borrowston, near Thrumster, on April 28, last year.
The case was continued until July 25, for a report on the legal preparations. Palmer was said to be out of the country, at present, but expected to return home at the start of next week.
