Portuguese Fado
I have heard some beautiful haunting celtic music by following links here. I thought I'd post a link to one of my favorite fado singer's because I hear the celtic cords in it that connect Portugal to Ireland and the UK.
Fado means burden or suffering. It is a difficult word to translate, as is the feeling of "saudade" that has no direct translation. Saudade is a noun (not a verb), that means to miss something or someone or a place in your soul.

I am going to translate only part of the refrain:
"Oh people of my land, only now I understand
That the sadness that I bring, this sadness I bring in me,
was recieved from you"
It refers to an inate sadness and saudade that preported to belong in a portuguese soul. Not all fado is sad though......

And my favorite one:

I hope you enjoy this mediteranean flavor. And if you ever go to Portugal, go to a Fado house where the food will be fabulous accompanied by this music live.
