Accused's additional jail term
Wick man fully expected another prison spell
A WICK man serving a prison sentence, now faces an additional eight months term.
It was imposed on Hugh Newlands, 24, at the town’s sheriff court, today, when he admitted charges of theft, acting suspiciously, and breaching a supervisory release order, from prison.
Newlands stole two bottles off whisky and a multipack of crisps from the Co-op in Thurso. He was also found acting suspiciously on a shed roof in Owen Place, Wick. The offences occurred in April.
Solicitor Neil Wilson said that Newlands, of Cairndhuna Terrace, Wick, fully expected that the sentence would be a custodial one.
