Tours are designed to showcase local skills

TWO Caithness women have joined forces to help secure a bigger platform for craft producers.
Susan Asher, of Sue’Nique Designs and Crafting Crofters boss, Sally Crowe decided to collaborate after pinpointing a gap in the craft fairs were being held in the county at weekends, on a regular basis.
Now, as Caithness CrafTours, they have drawn up a programme which will give local crafters “an affordable outlet” for their wares. It will see monthly fairs being held in different venues around the county, on the first Sunday of each month.
Conscious of how hard raising funds can be in the current economic climate they will invite a different local club to capitalise on the events by inviting them to provide refreshments from which they will retain the proceeds for their respective organisations.
In addition to the monthly fairs, two extra ones will be held in the run-up to Christmas, in November and December.
