    Default Anyone have dogs?

I have a Rhodesian Ridgeback called Ember.

Are there any kind of dog walking / agility groups in the area?

Hi and welcome Victoria (and Ember)

there are a couple of clubs for dogs in the area such as Caithness Canine Club and Kanemere Dog Training

Don't know of any walking groups in the county but sure it would be easy enough to get a few dog walkers to meet up for one

Hi guys, thanks for your replies.

Ember is currently snuggled up with me on the sofa - which sounds nice but when your dog is the same size and weight as you its not very comfy!!!

    Hahaha!

The canine club looks really good - maybe i could take ember to obidience and teach her not to try and get in bed with me at 3 in the morning!

    Hi Victoria,
I have two Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Lola and Kruger, and if I have learnt one thing with them it is that YOU NEVER LET THEM ON THE LOUNGE OR IN YOU BED, if you don't want them there for the rest of thier lives! (Capitals only for emphasis, not shouting.)
They are extremely strong willed dogs, as you most likely know. How old is Ember? My two are 2&1/2 and 3. I have done obedience with them and you have to be extremely strong with them and never let them win the argument. Food rewards seems to be the best training technique that I have found, so find a training school that uses this style of training for the best results.
All the best, I am from Australia, so can't help with somewhere to train in the UK, sorry.
    Regards, Lolabelle.

Three Border Terriers. Midge 2 ½ year old bitch. Meig, 2 ½ year old bitch and Geordie 6 month old dog. He got a reserve in puppy class on Sunday at Falkirk. All three are much loved companions, we wouldn’t be without them.
My friend up in Forres has just lost his ridgeback, unfortunately it bit his Granddaughter so he had to let him go. Very sad.

    Wink

2 11 year old West highland terriers called Ceilidh and Lady. Not mine originally. I got them 2 years back when they are old, peeing themselves and grumpy. Yippy little things. I wouldnt get a westie dog if I was choosing a dog. Or a terrier.
However I couldnt live without them now, would miss the running away chasing cats or barking. Bet neighbours wouldnt miss them.
