Default Three accused of string of attempted shop frauds

Alleged to have created confusion during cash exchanges
THREE Romanians from Rotherham are alleged to have worked their way up the east-coast of the Highlands of Scotland, recently, attempting to defraud shops and supermarkets.

The trio, Ion Muntean, 20, of Heatherly Road, Rotherham and 28-year-old, Dorel Muntean, 28, and co-accused also named Dorel Muntean, aged 22, both of St Anne's Road, Rotherham, faced ten charges, when they appeared from custody at Wick Sheriff Court today.
The charges allege that they tried to obtain extra cash through the pretext of asking retailers in Ross-shire, Sutherland, Lybster, Wick and Thurso to exchange money, during the confusion they had created. They are further accused of obtaining £40 at one shop and £100 at another, to which they were not entitled.
The three, who pleaded not guilty, were remanded in custody by Sheriff Andrew Berry pending their trial on May 30.
