Thread: Nuisance Calls

  1. #1

    Default Nuisance Calls

I would like to warn anybody recieving a call from: 01612418570 that they are scam merchants. They will tell you that they are part of some Government scheme offering information of how to obtain free solar panels and then ask for your card details, supposedly to enter a free draw and then proceed to access your bank account.

Hang up tell them to Foxtrot Oscar.

I know this seems obvious but some people will be taken in by the thought of some-thing for free.

Give them a blast of your Survival Whistle, they won't be bothering anyone for a while.

Have been registered with TPS for years. It worked really well at first but over the last couple of years I have been getting increasing amounts of junk calls. I did check in case I needed to re-register, not sure why but it it doesn't seem to work well anymore.

We have our phone blocked for all withheld numbers and in the past year or so we have had only 2 Nuisance Calls and as soon as I put down the phone I blocked their number so no one from that number could phone us again. Simples

I had one around 2am a month or so ago. Someone whispered down the phone so I said 'I cant hear you' they whispered louder but still could not hear them so told them. The whispered louder and I thought I heard a rude word but wasnt sure so said 'sorry I still cant hear you'. Again they whispered so I shouted that I couldnt hear them and hung up. They rang back I spoke and told them I am fairly deaf and so they would have to shout lol. They have never rang back I guess they got bored.....

If you are with BT, (I do not know about other providers), then you can get the service "Choose to Refuse". You do have to pay £8.39 every three months for this service but I think it is worth it.

Once you have this service you can block any number. If you receive a call from someone you do not want to phone you dial asap 14258 then when prompted press the star button twice **. This blocks the last number that phoned you. As I said there is a charge for this service but I think it is worth it.
