Prisoner made break for freedom at Tain court

AN escaped prisoner, who hid out in Wick amongst other places while on the run in the Highlands, has been jailed or more than three years.
Michael Davidson admitted bombarding his former partner with phone calls and text messages after he made his break for freedom from a second-floor window at Tain Sheriff Court following an interview with his solicitor about stalking charges.
Davidson, 28, formerly of Inverbreakie Drive, Invergordon, was eventually tracked to Dalmore House, a country house near Alness and spent nine hours on its roof before being talked down by police negotiators. It ended a Highland-wide hunt for Davidson, who hid at Invergordon as well as at Wick and Alness.
The accused also admitted attempting to pervert the courst of justice by escaping.
Sheriff Jamie Gilchrist said that Davidson’s behaviour towards his victim, a mother-of-three Chanine MacKenzie, was “deplorable”.
