Fire threat made by Thurso youth

A YOUNG Thurso man has admitted abusive behaviour and threatening to set his mother’s house on fire, on Saturday.
Brendon Stevens pleaded guilty when he appeared from custody at Wick Sheriff Court, yesterday, and also admitted resisting police attempting to arrest him.
The 20-year-old, threw a pan of boiling water on the floor during the incident at his mother’s home, at 29 Royal Terrace, Thurso, where he was staying.
He was released on a curfew bail to an address in Mill Cottages, Thurso, and will be sentenced on March 20 when Sheriff Andrew Berry will see a background report.

Pair accused of housebreaking

TWO Thurso teenagers are facing a series of housebreaking charges.
Eighteen-year-old Paul Cannop, and Dominic Long, who is seventeen, appeared, on petition in private. They made no plea or declaration and were released on bail, pending further inquiry.
The pair are alleged to have committed the offences, in Thurso, between the eleventh and sixteenth of this month.

Driver more than twice legal limit

A DRIVER, breathalysed by police, was later found to have a breath-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit.
Darren Sutherland appeared from custody and admitted being in charge of his car in Harrowhill, Wick, on Saturday with excess alcohol. Tests revealed a reading of 78 micrograms –the limit is 35mgs.
The 27-year-old, of 3 Grant Street, Wick, was granted bail and will be sentenced tomorrow (Wednesday) on production of his driving licence.
