Academy nudged into second place in league table

WICK ACADEMY were dislodged from their No 1 table spot, by default... a match cancellation which allowed title-chasers Cove Rangers to slip into the slenderest of leads, with a blistering, 7-0, rout of Turriff United.
With the narrowest of margins – a single point – separating the front pair, the Allan Parkers are in a position to dig in at the top if they beat Rothes on Saturday and Wick lose to Clach away.
The Scorries now have two games in hand, and, although Formartine are five points behind them, the latter have a few matches to play, so it would take a brave pundit to bet a bundle on the final title outcome.
Harmsworth Park was ruled unplayable, on Saturday, with the unrelenting rain making parts of the ground waterlogged robbing fans of an entertaining return challenge against Huntly whom Academy beat away, in October, 3-2.
