I am having a major problem with stone number 135 on page 59 of Volume 1 of Caithness Monumental Inscriptions pre-1855 by Cowper & Ross. The entry reads [Table Stone] John Robeson, farmer, Greenland 22 April 1877, aged 77 years. Erected by his sons.

I am unable to find any reference to such a man in the 1841, 1851, 1861 and 1871 census returns for Caithness.

In the Kirk Session accounts for Dunnet there is an entry for a John Robeson - 4 May 1837, a payment of 6d to ring the bell. I am wondering if the year 1877 is in fact 1837. Could someone who lives locally have a look to see if I am right?
