    Default Microwave recipes?

Can anybody suggest a good easy microwave cookery book?
Up to now I've really only used the m'wave for baked potatoes, fish, and heating stuff up.
My proper oven's pretty old though and not working too well so I'll need to be using the m'wave more often for more substantial things...
    Any ideas?

One of my favourite recipe sites is the American site www.recipezaar.com (i.e. "Recipezaar... where the recipes are" - corny I know!)

It's a long way removed from being American only recipes and there are contributors from all across the world. You can convert measurements at the click of a button to/from imperial/metric etc. And it has something like a nutritional breakdown of the recipes as well.

They have a feedback system of sorts where people making the recipe (or not) can post comments or reviews, and pictures.

I searched on 'microwave cake' and came up with quite a few.

This one sounds nice, the instructions couldn't be simpler, it got a great rating the picture looks scrummy too!

    Microwave Chocolate Cherry Snack Cake

1 (18 1/4 ounce) box chocolate cake mix
    1 can cherry pie filling
    3 large eggs, beaten lightly

    Directions:
    1. You will need a large plastic, microwave safe bundt pan or ring mold for this recipe.
    2. Do not follow directions on cake mix box- just dump the dry mix into a bowl and add the cherry pie filling and the eggs.
    3. Mix well.
    4. Pour into the plastic bundt pan (I spray mine with nonstick baking spray first) and place in your microwave on HIGH for approximately 12 minutes- or until a toothpick comes out clean; NOTE: Older microwaves and those without a spinning base will probably require a bit longer cook time, and you will also need to rotate the pan 1/4 turn every 4 minutes or so for more even baking)
    5. Let cool upside down on a wire rack.
    6. Use a knife to help release the edges from the mold.
I'd probably use one of those silicone cake pans - although if you can track one down apparently Tupperware used to make cake rings for microwave cooking - may get them on eBay.

not an edible recipe but if you get a lightbulb and put it into a cup of water, just enough to cover the two termnals at the bottom and switch the microwave on for a few seconds..the lightbulb lights up

In the same vein as octane's post - neat way to clean your microwave with no effort....

place 1 cup of very hot/boiling water with 2 or 3 tablespoons of lemon juice (or juice of 1 small lemon) into microwave.

Microwave for 30 seconds or a bit longer if you like. Leave the door closed for a few minutes.

Wipe down. Soaks right into the baked on sludge (if you/they let it get that bad!) and just wipe it clean.

    Thanks for the ideas.
I'll try out the lemon cleaner - I've been cooking quite a lot of fish & the smell lingers...and lingers....

    Cheers
