Boats damaged as river bursts its banks

SEVERAL roads around the area of Wick Harbour and Wick River were closed overnight following an extremely high tide combined with strong winds.
Several boats on hardstanding were damaged at the harbour and about a dozen cars were moved from a carparking area near to the river when a strong surge breached the riverbank. Several roads were blocked by debris thrown up by the waves.
It is anticipated that further damage will be discovered when assessment is made during daylight hours
