Woman sustained two broken bones court hears

A 16 stone man man sat on his eight stone partner after a tiff, breaking two bones in her leg, Wick Sheriff Court heard today.
Gary Thomson admitted on indictment, culpable and reckless conduct and was ordered to carry out 75 hours of unpaid work in the community.
It was stated that the unusual incident occurred when he was staying over at his partner's house in Glamis Road, Wick, on June 24.
Senior fiscal depute, David Barclay, said that the couple had had a tiff earlier in the day which resulted in the accused sleeping upstairs and his partner, Carol Anne Fraser, downstairs on a settee in the living room.
About 8am in the morning, Thomson came downstairs into the room and said Mr Barclay: "He must have seen Ms Fraser lying asleep on the settee. The accused approached it and sat down on her left leg. One of the people in the room speak to Ms Fraser waking up screaming and clearly in a great deal of pain. The police and an ambulance were summoned."
Ms Fraser was taken to hospital and found to have a fracture to her upper tibia and fibula, but recovered later.
Thomson,41, described as a prisoner at Inverness Prison, told police that it had been an accident.
His solicitor Craig Wood described the incident as "unfortunate". Thomson, 16 stone, at the time, had given his partner a nudge prior to sitting down and assumed she had woken up and moved her legs out of the way.
Sheriff Andrew Berry, who noted Thomson's record, ordered him to carry out 75 hours unpaid work in the community. The accused will also require to take anger management therapy under an anti-domestic violence programme which, it was hoped would give the public a degree of confidence that such "inappropriate behaviour" would not be repeated..
The sheriff also imposed a non-harrassment order preventing the accused contacting or seeing Ms Fraser, meantime. He said the situation could be reviewed if the couple got back together.
