Default Marathon duo celebrate century achievement

Vintage motorists are on song with a Singer

TWO English men are marking a century old motoring milestone by following the same route in a vintage car.
Ian Wood and David Lilley are on the last lap of their Land’s End to John O’ Groats marathon in a 1907 Singer 12 Tourer, the oldest one of its kind in the world.
The pair were inspired by a relative of Mr Lilley, William Warn, of Poole in Dorest, who made the 1000-mile run, a 100 years ago in a Singer, without turning its engine off. Ian and David will be taking things at a more leisurely pace as they have to switch off their Singer’s engine at regular intervals, while covering a 100 miles daily,
The pair, from High Wycombe, started out last Wednesday and hope to reach their destination, tomorrow or Friday
