Default Additional cases from this week's sheriff court

Accused threatened to petrol bomb wife’s house

A WICK man threatened to set fire to his estranged wife’s home after a chance meeting in a local street turned sour.
Wick Sheriff Court was told, yesterday, that Jamie Bremner (23) was under the influence of drink when he responded to an invitation from his wife Mary Ann who was sitting in a car, at The Shore, in the town, on June 1. She gestured she wanted to speak to him.
Bremner, of Shillinghill, Wick, came over to the vehicle but their ensuing discussion escalated, and resulted him “shooting his mouth off”and threatening to petrol bomb her house, said David Barclay, prosecuting. Police located the accused a short distance away.
The accused admitted threatening or abusive behaviour and had his case continued until September 3 for a background report.

    No licence for bullets

A MAN who found two rifle bullets while out for a walk, kept them, even though he did hold a firearms licence.
Shane Farquhar (22) admitted the offence which occurred at his home at Breck Cottages, John O’ Groats. The bullets were Winchester .270 calibre.
Sentence was deferred until September 3 for a background report.

    Pub ban for rowdy

A WICK woman didn’t take kindly to being told she wasn’t welcome at a local pub.
Susan Thorpe (44) left, reluctantly, but not before she unleashed a tirade of verbal abuse at Camps bar employee Fiona Reid.
The behaviour led to Thorpe, of Henrietta Street, Wick, being charged with threatening or abusive behaviour and being banned from the pub. She pleaded guilty to the offence which occurred on May 31 and was ordered to carry out 60 hours unpaid work in the community.
Sheriff Berry banned her from the pub for two years and indicated that the exclusion might be even longer, depending on the view taken by the management.
