Academy gets campaign off to flying start inflicting stinging defeat on Thistle

THE Scorries got their Highland League season off to a flier with an emphatic 4-1 win against their opening opposition, Strathspey Thistle.
It took Academy into the second half before they broke Thistle down. Sam Mackay’s first-half strike was followed by goals from Lukasz Geruzel and David Allan.
Gavin Chisholm pulled one back for the homsters but any hopes of a revival was dashed by a second from Allan.
Wick’s new signing, James Pickles got his first taste of life in the Highland League. The 21-year-old replaced Gary Manson in the 69th minute.
The away result puts Academy top of the league on goal difference but, clearly, no-one is jumping to any conclusions. There’s a long, long way to go.
