    Saturday 4th August
    5.00pm Children’s Fancy Dress judging in Sir John’s Square. Birth to 16 years, entry free
    5.45pm Adult Fancy Dress judging, Sir John’s Square, 13 years and above, entry free.
    6.15pm Mina MacKay’s Highland Dancers Display, Sir John’s Square.
    6.15pm Judging of Floats & prize presentation, Sinclair Street, entry free.
    7.00pm Gala Queen Crowning Ceremony, Sir John’s Square
    7.30pm Parade of Floats & Fancy Dress Walkers, led by Thurso & Caithness Junior Pipe Bands including the Gala Queen
    & Court with their Guard of Honour Kuk Sool Won,
    7.30pm Stalls/Tables Precinct, Contact info@thurso.org to book a place, please provide your own table and cover.
    Candy Floss, inflatables etc,
    8.30pm Pipe Band & Highland Dancers Display, Princess Street. Donations welcome
    9.30pm Pub Entertainment, Holborn Hotel. They Drove All Night. Donations welcome

    Sunday 5th August
    12noon Out door Car Boot Sale, Stalls/Tables Harbour, Contact info@thurso.org to book a place, please provide
    your own table and cover.
    2.00pm Registration from 1pm Competition 2pm "SCRUFTS" SSPCA Novelty Dog Show at the Beach. £1 per class.
    2.00pm Beach Event (weather permitting),Race of Tasar & Laser Yachts. Jet Skiing & other water demonstrations,
    The Caithness Big Band, Face Painting, Sand Castle & Treasure Hunt Competition. Goblins Electric
    Car Kit Demonstration by Caithness Primary Schools, kids can have a try of the cars. Burger van
    Bouncy Castle etc.
    6.30pm Car Treasure Hunt, leaving from the Thurso Club & returning there for the results, entry £5 per car
    Monday 6th August
    2-4.00pm Museum activities, Caithness Horizons, call 01847 896508 for booking and info.
    7.00pm Concert, Mount Pleasant School. Display of various talents, entry adults £3, kids £1
    Tuesday 7th August
    2-3.00pm Under 7 years Teddy Bears Picnic & games, Thurso Club, prizes for best dressed teddies, entry £2.
    7.00pm Family Bingo, Royal British Legion, books are usual prices, entry £1.
    Wednesday 8th August
    2.00pm Under 7 years Messy Play, Thurso Club, entry £2.50, wear old clothes, adult supervision required.
    6.50pm 3K fun run/walk is open to all ages but under 8 years must be accompanied by an adult, entry £4.
    7.00pm 10K run - (over 15years only), entry £8
    Registration at Thurso Youth Club, Millbank, Thurso from 6.00-6.45pm, Enter on the day.

    8-12pm Fishing Competition, Thurso Beach meet at 7pm. Catch & Release. Entry £10 all monies returned in prizes
    Sunday 12th August
    1100am Under 11 years Seven a-side Football, pre selected teams only at the Dammies, spectators most welcome.
    12noon Baby show, Dammies £2 per Baby. Forms at Sutherlands Chemist, Cairngorm Windows or at the event.
    2pm It’s A Knockout, Dammies, registration from 1pm. £30 per team of 6. Bouncy Castle etc.

    Gala Programme Extras
    Float Fund, It is at the discretion of the TTIA to award up to £50 per registered float taking part in the Gala Parade, prize winning floats are excluded. You may register floats by emailing info@thurso.org by 31st July 2012.

    Thurso Bowling Club, Gala Pairs Competition. Forms from K Boden, 31 Heathfield Road, 894635. Names must be in by 01/08/2011, entry £4 per pair proceeds to the bowling club.

    Thurso School’s Annual Gala Competition, Topic - Olympics, entries will be displayed in Caithness Horizons

    Photo Competition; free entry, categories 16 years and over, under 16 years. E- mail: info@thurso.org or tag your photo on Facebook to Thurso Gala by 15/08/2012. See posters/facebook for rules & regulations.

    Colouring, Red Herring & Word Competitions are available from Cairngorm windows from the 30th July. All competitions apart from the photo one must be returned to Cairngorm Windows by Monday 13th August 12.00 noon.

    Participating in or running the following activities will be at your own risk, TTIA’s Insurance does not cover you for:
    The gala parade, its a Knockout, any water or beach events, fun runs or walks, races, sports, archery, side-shows or inflatables, animal events, car boot sales, running a stall or sales table, operating machinery or vehicles. Anything not run by the TTIA personally is classed as third party. Some events may be covered by the other group’s own insurance.

    Thurso Town Improvements Association & The Northern Constabulary wish to remind the Public that COIN THROWING
    can cause serious injuries and may lead to a criminal conviction. For the SAFETY of everyone please DO NOT throw coins inappropriately or allow children to do so.

    If you wish to take a dog to any outdoor events, please ensure it is on a lead and is properly supervised.

    Please do not smoke in any spectator’s areas or in queues at events.

    Strictly no alcohol is permitted to be brought into events. Alcohol can only be consumed in allocated areas and purchased
    at the event; otherwise you will be breaking the law.

    Photographs: Any photos taken by the TTIA or approved photographers may be used in future promotions or displayed on Social Networks such as facebook.


    All TTIA profits are distributed to projects within the Thurso area.

    The Beach fishing has been changed from the 12th to the 4th August.
