Accused alleged to have failed to provide samples of breath

A THURSO man is facing charges of assault and road traffic offences.
William Simpson (30) pleaded not guilty when he appeared from custody at Wick Sheriff Court today.
The charges allege that he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner towards his wife, Kay, at Sir John’s Square, Thurso, and also at their home in Ravenshill Road, Thurso, where he is alleged to have assaulted her.
Simpson is also accused of having, at the town’s police station, failed to identify the driver of a car allegedly involved in an offence and failing to provide specimens of breath when required to do so.
Simpson was allowed bail and will return to court for his trial on July 4.
The court granted a motion by senior fiscal depute to impound his car, meantime.

Threatened to abduct partner
A YORKSHIRE man has denied threatening to abduct his partner.
Peter Montgomery (24) pleaded not guilty when he appeared from custody. today.
The incident is alleged to have occurred on the A99 at Hempriggs, on Saturday.
Montgomery, of 20 Hoyland Road, Kettlethorpe, Wakefield, is accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner in that he refused to allow his partner, Leah Carter, of Harrow Terrace, Wick, to get out of his car and told her he was going to drive her to England, against her will.
The accused also denied a further charge of assaulting Ms Carter by seizing her and struggling with her and preventing her from using her mobile phone.
Montgomery was released on conditional bail and will return to court for his trial on July 5.

Sisterly concern led to court
A WOMAN who behaved in a threatening or abusive manner will be sentenced on June 8.
Natasha McPhee (19) pleaded guilty when she appeared from custody.
The court was told that she called Damien Wilson an inappropriate name and threatened him with violence.
The incident occurred in Wellington Street, Wick on Saturday.
Senior fiscal depute, David Barclay indicated that McPhee, of Bremner’s Walk, Wick, had reservations about her sister getting having any involvement with Mr Wilson but had simply “expressed herself in the wrong way.”
Sentence was deferred for reports and the accused was granted conditional bail.
