    was looking to buy a camera was looking at the Nikon D3100 or similiar in a Cannon any advice comments would be most welcome

    There's a new Nikon D3200 just out, much better spec than the 3100, 24.2 million pixel sensor compared to 14.2 for the 3100, check out the reviews.
