Having reread my last post I realised I missed out loads of relevant information as I am so familiar with it. My family originally comes from Latheron but my great grandfather was born in Liverpool in the 1860's. It seems his parents may have joined a paternal uncle there and then moved on to Glasgow at some point where they finally settled. They worked in manual jobs so they would not have any extra money to spend on private transport. I am wondering if they would have moved by train or whether, as they are all towns known for their marine tradition would they have sailed?
